The Association of Sewing and Design Professionals would like to invite Student Designers to create an ensemble to attend a Summer Concert.
Concerts vary by genre, with unique atmospheres at different venues, and have changed through the decades. You may design for any type of concert your client will be attending. We ask that your design be appropriate for the chosen concert environment and avoid overtly risqué garments.
We are looking for you to draw inspiration from the chosen musical influence and create a design that expresses an individual style. The design should include at least one stand-out element, which could be an accessory or unique feature that enhances the overall outfit. We ask that no more than $50 be spent in creating the design.

Student Eligibility:
This competition is open to students aged 16 and over who are currently enrolled in a high school, college/university, technical/vocational program, or other qualified educational course related to fashion, design, textiles, business, or a relevant field of study. This includes but is not limited to programs focused on fashion design, apparel production, textile design, merchandising, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Students in both part-time and full-time programs are eligible. Applicants under the age of 18 must have parental/guardian approval to participate.

By submitting this Intent to Enter registration, you are reserving your spot(s) to participate in the 2025 Student Challenge upcycling competition. You may register up to 3 entries for the $10 fee per entry.
After registration closes, you will receive a unique 3-digit Entry Number for each of your entries which you will use to identify your completed submissions. Please add [email protected] to your safe list and retain your Entry Number(s)!
You will have until August 15, 2025, to finish your ensemble(s), take photos, and submit your official entries through the Challenge Submission Form using your provided Entry Number(s). This registration reserves your place while giving you time to ideate and construct your entries over the summer before the final deadline.
Entering a garment in the Student Challenge allows you to request up to 2 free fashion show tickets. Additional tickets may be purchased at a 50% discount while quantities last. More information will be sent after confirmation of entry.
Finalist garments will be presented at the ASDP Conference Fashion Show on Friday, October 17th. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winning garments.
